SPECIALITY COFFEE, SUSTAINABLE AND HIGH QUALITY

Our small, family-owned farm is managed by several family members and workers from the local community. It is located in the small village of Cruzpamba, Loja, in the south-eastern Ecuadorian Andes which has the perfect climate conditions for coffee farming.

A PERFECT SYNERGY OF TRADITIONAL AND MODERN TECHNOLOGIES

Our aim is to produce high quality speciality coffee for our consumers, in a market that recognises its quality and therefore, gives it the value it deserves. We have implemented scientific methods recognised by international and national scientific bodies such as the SCAA that aim to promote small producers to produce the highest quality coffee.

EXCELLENT CLIMATE CONDITIONS

The coffee plantation is located in a temperate forest ecosystem at a height of 1,150 meters above sea level. In this area there are two distinct climatic seasons: the rainy season, lasting from January to May, and the dry season, lasting from June to December. The temperature ranges between 14 - 26ºC throughout the year. Due to these specific climatic conditions we carry out one harvest per year, producing seasonal coffee which relies only on natural rainfall.

ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE

We use natural resources responsibly. We take advantage of the biodiversity of the local environment and follow traditional conservational practices which aim to improve the health and biological activity of the soil. We do not use any chemicals that are environmentally unfriendly and all weeding and harvesting is done by hand. During this integrated process, we continuously strive to limit deforestation and environmental pollution.

SINGLE ORIGIN, HIGH QUALITY COFFEE

La Huerta, where the coffee is grown, covers 3.6 hectares and is comprised of two plots of land that were chosen because of the high fertility of the soil that is fed, maintained and protected by several species of leguminous plants, timber trees and banana palms. These provide an important layer of organic material that enriches and maintains the natural fertility of the soil, preserves humidity and protects the soil against erosion.
